Preferred Nomenclature is an Austin based, two-piece hybrid of live instruments and electronic/digital/Dj tracks. Tracks are accompanied by Rodney Howell on sax and keyboards, and Darren DeBreé on drums.

Preferred Nomenclature delivers creative and interesting music by blending stylistic elements of Jazz, Rock, Funk, Reggae, Hip Hop, R&B, and Electronica. It is this unique combination of styles that makes the music accessible to a wide range of audiences and venues.

The band is dedicated to creating music that will get the crowd dancing, while maintaining a high level of musicality.  PN has already begun to impact the local music scene of Austin. The duo was asked to perform at a SXSW showcase after being on the scene for just two months. They have also played major venues such as Cedar Street Courtyard and have held residencies at The Speakeasy on Congress and Maggie Mae’s on 6th Street.
